1. Start the day with coffee

A researcher asked, “Is caffeine a cognitive enhancer?” As it turns out, your morning coffee fix could help with focus. While “caffeine cannot be considered a ‘pure’ cognitive enhancer,” it does have impacts on arousal, mood, and concentration, which contributes to its “cognitive enhancing properties.” Be wary of consuming too much caffeine, though — jittery feelings aren’t exactly helpful for focusing.

2. Choose your snacks wisely

Your challenge is to finish the task before the timer runs out. As you keep doing this, see if you can get faster and faster. There’s only one rule: never sacrifice on quality.

5. Get up and move around!

We spend a solid chunk of our lives sitting, so why not try walking your way to improved concentration and focus? Sometimes, improved concentration is as simple as taking a brisk walk. When we exercise, blood flow increases throughout our bodies, including within the brain. More blood flow means more oxygen, which helps the brain perform better and improves cognitive performance.
